    • Interns serve as members of the interdisciplinary team and act as companions and befrienders to our patients. They are patient advocates and are to act as a creative task force to help ensure comfort and care for our patients and their loved ones. This may include services such as music therapy, horticultural therapy, letter writing, verbal wellness checks, assistance with technology, and Veteran support and recognition.
    • Interns take on many roles and can spotlight their interests by working as assistants and shadowing various team members, including administration, office support, marketing, nursing, spiritual care, volunteers, and social work.

    • CCS generally have 3-4 internship positions for Fall/Spring.
    • Must receive the student’s application to become an intern prior to our internal peer support scheduling, which is the end of June/December.
    • Once you submit your application, they will review, meet with the student, and then access scheduling/intern outcomes in August/January.
  • Essential Job Functions: 
    • Interns must display interest in working with peers who have intellectual disabilities in the academics, vocational, and/or campus life/residential pursuits.
    • CSS looks for students who are respectful to differences, can adapt a peer/peer modeling relationship and are open to training/direction.
    • Requires a high level of patience, flexibility, responsibility, and commitment.
    • All interns must attend the CCS mentor orientation to learn about the program philosophies and student needs.
