Declare/Change/Remove a Psychology Specialization

All Psychology majors must complete the major requirements.

Students have the option to declare a Psychology specialization beginning in their sophomore year. While specializations are entirely optional, it is highly recommended that you speak with your advisor to determine if this is right for you. Most students do not declare a specialization, but those who choose to do so should plan accordingly to ensure they can complete the required coursework before graduation.

How to Declare or Change a Specialization

1. Fill out the Specialization Declaration Form.

2. Have your advisor sign the form.

3. Submit the completed form to the Psychology Specialization Application.

4. If approved, the department will communicate with Records and Registration.

Students will be held to the requirements at the time of entry into specialization (for example, if the requirements change after you’ve entered the specialization you will be held to the original requirements).

How to Remove a Specialization

1. Fill out the Specialization Declaration Form.

2. Submit the completed form to the Psychology Specialization Application.

3. The department will communicate with Records and Registration.
