  • Essential Job Functions: 
    • Interns serve as members of the interdisciplinary team and act as companions and befrienders to our patients. They are patient advocates and are to act as a creative task force to help ensure comfort and care for our patients and their loved ones. This may include services such as music therapy, horticultural therapy, letter writing, verbal wellness checks, assistance with technology, and Veteran support and recognition.
    • Interns take on many roles and can spotlight their interests by working as assistants and shadowing various team members, including administration, office support, marketing, nursing, spiritual care, volunteers, and social work.

    • Sit in on intakes and evaluations.
    • Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
    • Build rapport with clients who were in the shelter.
    • Shadow/interact with case workers, the clinical director, and the executive director.
    • Help with clerical work such as answering/making phones calls and setting up files.

  • Application Process:
    • CCS generally have 3-4 internship positions for Fall/Spring.
    • Must receive the student’s application to become an intern prior to our internal peer support scheduling, which is the end of June/December.
    • Once you submit your application, they will review, meet with the student, and then access scheduling/intern outcomes in August/January.
  • Essential Job Functions: 
    • Interns must display interest in working with peers who have intellectual disabilities in the academics, vocational, and/or campus life/residential pursuits.
    • CSS looks for students who are respectful to differences, can adapt a peer/peer modeling relationship and are open to training/direction.
    • Requires a high level of patience, flexibility, responsibility, and commitment.
    • All interns must attend the CCS mentor orientation to learn about the program philosophies and student needs.

Holisticare Hospice of NJ

  • Essential Job Functions/Professional Characteristics:
    • Provide companionship, socialization, and support to patients and their caregivers in their homes or at a nursing facility, throughout Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties.
    • Shadow Holisticare Staff (Chaplains and Social Workers)
    • Attend team meetings
    • Work with the bereavement department (Grief Group start-up and assistance, Celebration of Live Services, Memorial Services at the nursing facilities we partner with).
    • Assist with patient celebrations/events
    • *Interns who have not dealt with the passing of a loved one within the past year are ideal, due to the nature of the support we provide.

    • Must have reliable transportation to drive to the Toms River office along with pts. homes and facilities.
    • Required: Volunteer application/2 references/job description/emergency data/media and disclosure release forms/background check/orientation/medical file completion (includes being COVID 19 vaccinated/2 Step PPD/Tuberculosis test/Health screening/ MMR vaccination), and additional supervisory training.
